Northampton
was one of the earliest colonial settlements (1848) in Western Australia
and the area has a proud history in both mining as well as pastoral
activities. In 1853 a convict hiring station was established at Lynton
near Port Gregory to cater for the mining of lead and assist with
road and bridge construction.
Northampton
is an ideal base for wildflower exploring and has wonderful nature
walks, picnic spots and scenic drives as well as fantastic fishing
and safe watersports at nearby Horrocks Beach and Port Gregory.
